18.98 mm subscribers added in Oct: Trail
Telecom operators added 18.98 million mobile subscribers in October, taking the total number of telephone users in the country to 742.12 million, sectoral regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) said on Friday. With this, the overall teledensity (telephones per 100 people) in India touched 62.51%.
According to data released by the regulator, the wireless subscriber base increased from 687.71 million in September to 706.69 million by the end of October, registering a growth of 2.76%.
GSPC discovers gas reservoir in Gujarat
Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. (GSPC) has discovered a “huge reservoir of gas” in an on-land exploration block in Ankleshwar, Gujarat.
“The discovery of a huge reservoir of gas at the Ankleshwar 41S well...could potentially open a new zone for exploration for us there”, a top GSPC official said on Friday.
Qatar’s Tasweeq IOC ink LPG supply deal
Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Co. (Tasweeq) has signed a contract for long term supply of liquefied petroleum gas to Indian Oil Corp. Ltd (IOC). The contract was signed by IOC chairman Brij Mohan Bansal and Tasweeq acting chief executive Saad AlKuwari on 15 December.
