Disturbed over repeated cyber attacks where security gets compromised, the National Security Council (NSC) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had a meeting and deliberated on various plans to beef up cyber security.
During the meeting, the present level of preparedness to deal with cyber security issues and a future plan of action was discussed by the council, officials said on Sunday.
The agenda for further research and development was also discussed during the meeting, which comes close on the heels of recent hacking of the website of the Central Bureau of Investigation by a group called “Pakistani cyber army”.
  • CAG to appear before PAC on 2G issue
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), whose report on a presumed loss of `1.76 trillion in 2G spectrum allocation created a storm in Parliament, will appear before the Public Accounts Committee on Monday.
The PAC, headed by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi, will continue with its examination of the controversial allocation of 2G radio waves and comptroller and auditor general Vinod Rai is expected to put forth his point of view before the panel.

  • Bridgestone invests Rs. 170 cr. in India plant
Japanese tyre maker Bridgestone Corp. on Sunday said it is investing `170 crore in its factory in Indore to manufacture truck and bus radial tyres by May.
The company said it was witnessing increased demand for truck and bus radial tyres (TBRs) in India, which has prompted it to start local manufacturing, instead of importing in small quantities from Japan.
“Currently, we are importing TBRs from Japan and enjoy about 5% share.

Indore facility by May next year,“ Bridgestone India managing director Hiromi Tanigawa said.
