Butola set to be Indian Oil Chairman
Oil minister S. Jaipal Reddy cleared the appointment of ONGC Videsh Ltd managing director Ranbir Singh Butola as chairman of Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. People familiar with the development said the Public Enterprise Selection Board had on 29 September named Butola as its most preferred choice to head the nation's largest oil firm. After clearance by the central vigilance commissioner, Butola's name had been forwarded to the cabinet committee on appointments when there was a change t of guard at the ministry of petroleum and natural gas last month.
Sebi plans helpline for investor
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) plans to start a nationwide toll free helpline and launch awareness campaigns through newspapers, radio and TV channels.
Initially, the helpline would assist investors across the country in English and Hindi and the facility would be subsequently expanded to as many as 14 languages. Besides, the market regulator also plans to revamp its investor website to make it more users friendly and plans to provide information in both text and audiovisual forms there.
