IT Glossary

Network Connectivity
Connecting and communicating between two or more computers, typically over a network

Network Protocol
Standards that allow computers to communicate with each other. Protocols also define ways of handling lost or damaged data packets. The main types of network protocol are:
·         HTTP 
·         FTP

Network Topology
The different way computers are arranged on or connected to a network. The most common network topologies are: 1) Star  2) Ring  3) Bus  4)Tree    5) Mesh

Newsgroup
A newsgroup is a discussion about a particular subject consisting of notes written to a central Internet site and redistributed through Usenet, a worldwide network of news discussion groups. Usenet uses the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP).
Messages posted to a newsgroup are known as "articles", as each is assigned a unique article-ID .In discussions however messages are more commonly referred to as "posts".
