Gopalakrishnan is new Bata India MD
Bata India Ltd, India's largest organized shoe retail company has said Rajeev Gopalakrishnan has been app pointed as its new managing director with effect from 1 October 2011. Gopalakrishnan will take over from Marcelo Villagran, who has been pro moted to the position of group manag ing director to look after the emerging markets region. Villagran will look after the entire business of the Latin America region, the company said in a statement.

Ranjit Sinha named new ITBP Chief
Ranjit Sinha was on Tuesday appointed as the director general of IndoTibetan Border Police (ITBP), a force entrusted with guarding the bor ders with China and Tibet from Jammu and Kashmir to the northeast. The name of Sinha, a 1974 IPS officer from Bihar cadre, was cleared by the appointments' committee of cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, for leading 45,000strong force, officials said.  

Medfort merge with Maxivision  
Medfort Hospitals Pvt. Ltd on Tuesday announced a merger with Hyderabadbased Maxivision Eye Hospi tal, taking the number of hospitals of the combined entity to 15. Chennaibased Medfort, which cur rently has five diabetic and eyecare cen tres around the country, plans to add 50 more to the merged network in 20 cities in a year.
