 Amfi to launch transaction utility

The Association of Mutual Funds in India, or Amfi on Sunday announced it would launch `MF Utility', a front end portal to facilitate efficient and cost effective transaction processing. MF Utility will be operational by the first week of April 2012. Amfi said in a note that Harshendu Bindal, president, Franklin Templeton AMC, India, and Suresh Soni, chief executive officer, Deutsche AMC, have joined Amfi board as new directors.

General Motors Co. (GM) chief executive officer Rick Wagoner secretly proposed a merger with Ford Motor Co. in 2008, a year before GM's bankruptcy filing, `The New York Times' reported. Ford chairman Bill Ford and chief executive Alan Mulally held talks with Wagoner before turning down the offer, according to the article, adapted from Bill Vlasic's “Once Upon a Car: The Fall and Resurrection of America's Big Three Automakers--GM, Ford and Chrysler,' to be published 4 October.
