Food processors wants FDI in retail

The food processing industry wants the government to go ahead with its decision to allow foreign direct investment (FDI) in multibrand retail saying it will bring in modern infrastructure and technology, a top government official said on Tuesday.
“The broad consensus that emerged ...
was most of the players felt that the policy should move forward and we should encourage FDI in multibrand retail because it will help the food processing sector,“ secretary in the food processing ministry, Rakesh Kacker, said after a meeting with department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) officials.
