Cartoon Network Asia Pacific acquires Chaplin and Co
Cartoon Network Asia Pacific has announced the acquisition of popular animated series ‘Chaplin and Co’, a slapstick nod to one of Hollywood’s most pivotal early stars, Charlie Chaplin. A co-production between India’s DQ Entertainment and France-based Method Animation, Chaplin and Co was developed in consultation with the Chaplin family, making the series truly representative of the world-famous screen icon.
In true Chaplin style, ‘Chaplin and Co’ is a slapstick comedy without dialogue – reminiscent of his many famous films. Almost a century later, his most enduring traits have been transformed into a side-splittingly funny computer-generated animated series.
Running six minutes long over 104 episodes, ‘Chaplin and Co’ will air across all of Cartoon Network’s Asia Pacific markets, more than 26 countries, from the first half of 2012.
Food & grocery tops the chart
The food & grocery segment is the highest contributor to the retail sector (60%) in India with maximum contribution coming from traditional retailing, while penetration of modern retail is highest (23%) in the clothing and fashion segment, which is 10% of the total retail sector. Besides, organised retail in beauty, wellness and electronics through specialty stores is growing at a rapid pace. In fact, with growing urbanisation and consumerism in India clothing and fashion is one segment that exhibits huge untapped potential.
