MANAGEMENT SKILLS FROM MAHABHARAT

Introduction to Mahabharat

Mahabharat was the biggest battle ever fought on the grounds of kurukshetra  between   Kauravas and Pandavas. This great epic was written by Sage Ved Vyas .

Introduction to Shri Krishna

Lord Krishna was a very powerful personality in Mahabharat .He is one of the greatest management and motivation guru. Lord Krishna was not tall and handsome like Ram but the skills that he exhibited were par excellence .
Lord Krishna was with the Pandavas side .

Management skills derived from Geeta

  • MOTIVATION
  • LEADERSHIP

When Arjun reached the battle field , he saw that his opponents are his own family relatives . So , he resisted from fighting and dropped his arms . Lord Krishna motivated him by the speech “BHAGWAD GEETA”.Arjun again became ready to take the revenge .So , Lord Krishna was a very good motivator.
He also acted as a leader who not only lead the entire mission of Pandavas but also personally  guided  Arjun by accepting to be his sarthi and lead him to success .
So , Lord Krishna was also a very good motivator.

  •  DIRECTION
  • CONTROLLING

Lord Krishna’s team spirit and role allocation strategy made Pandavas achieved anything and everything . What Yudhishtar and Dharmaraj has to  do ? What role Arjun had to play ? How Bhim will carry out his task – all this was planned and decided by Lord Krishna .

 MARKETING SKILLS
Some of the skills derived from Mahabharat are of extreme importance to marketint of a product or its services .Some marketing skills have been derived from Mahabharat.

 CREATING DESIRES
When Arjun dropped his arms , then Shri Krishna motivated him by the speech “BHAGWAD GEETA” .So , by this speech Shri Krishna created the  desire of taking the revenge in Arjun and told him that you should do your “Dharma” and never bother about the fruit(result)..
The foremost step of marketing is to create desires in the customer to purchase that product desperately . Desires are created on the basis of the attitudes of the customers .

 ATTITUDES

  • YAJA ATTITUDE

These are of high thinking and want to lead a luxorious life .They are never satisfied with whatever they have . If we relate it to marketing terms , customers of such kind want to have Mercedes rather then Maruti.

  •  SATVA ATTITUDE

These people believe in simple living and high thinking .In market terms , customers of such kind are satisfied easily as they believe in the quality of the product .

  •  TAM ATTITUDE

These are negative thinkers .They are not satisfied easily . So they have to be convinced a lot to purchase any product . However this can be achieved by giving them incentives and attractive offers like “buy one and get four free “.
All these personalities give birth to marketing concepts like consumer behaviour and market segmentation .

 SWOT ANALYSIS
The company must be conscious about the business environment to identify the threats and opportunities affectintg it . When Karna was without arms and even then Arjun refused to kill him then Krishna said “Hey Parth , remember that moment when your son Abhimanyu was in the same condition and all Kauravas encircled him in a cyclone and thereby killed him .
So , it is rightly said that competitors weakness is your opportunity. Identify the areas of competitors weakness and grab the opportunity .
For eg : Maruti Udyhog became the leader in small car market segment because it was the first to recognize the need for small car on account of rising petroleum  prices and a large middle class .

 SELF – MARKETING
It basically means that how you project yourself to sell that product . Shahrukh khan is the best example of self marketer .

He does not have six abs like Salman nor does he do a better acting than Amitabh Bacchan but inspite of all these he is a brand ambassador of many blue chip companies like Nokia , ICICI bank etc. The reason is that he wears dresses which attracts the youth  , eats which targets the adults . So we can say that he changes himself and markets himself according to the tastes , likes and dislikes of the consumers and it is this skill of him that have made him to be the top actor and brand ambassador.

MAHABHARAT AS A PRODUCT
Geeta Upadesh as given by Lord Krishna is undoubtedly the finest piece of motivational advice ever given by nobody.
The derivatives of Mahabharat have been used as a product also and they are very successful too.. Many cassettes , books , cd’s on Mahabharat and Geeta are available in the market .
Also , we are all acquainted with the series of Mahabharat brought on the Indian Television by Late Shri B.R.Chopra . The modern Mahabharat shown on 9X channel directed by Ekta Kapoor has a very wonderful logo which is designed conceptually .
The sharp edges of that logo show the weapons used in Mahabharat and the curve of “ bh “ shows the sudarshan of Lord Shri Krishna
