Marketing Glossary

Affiliate Marketing

Revenue sharing between online advertisers/merchants and online publishers/salespeople, whereby compensation is based on performance measures, typically in the form of sales, clicks, registrations, or a hybrid model.

Ad Copy

The printed text or spoken words in an advertisement.

Brand

A name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller's good or service as distinct from those of other sellers. The legal term for brand is trademark. A brand may identify one item, a family of items, or all items of that seller.

Car Card

An advertising poster placed on buses, subways, etc.
