FM meets financial sector regulators
Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday discussed the economic situation with financial sector regulators, including Reserve Bank of India governor and Securities and Exchange Board of India chief, and sought their inputs for the 201112 Bud get that will be unveiled on 28 February.
This was the second meeting of the high level Financial Stability and Development Council. The first was held on 31 December.
Videocon asked to pay 60% penalty
The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has asked Videocon Telecom to pay 60% of `12.45 crore penalty imposed on it by the department of telecommunications (DoT) for missing rollout obligations, while admitting its appeal against DoT.
The TDSAT bench, headed by justice S.B. Sinha, allowed Videocon's plea but directed it to pay around `3 crore within two weeks.
The company has already paid `6.95 crore to DoT.
