Learn to appreciate!

Do not disregard the different nuances of happiness which life throws at us. Enjoy every bit of it and be a source of positivity and warmth to people around you.

In this rigmarole called life, it is very easy to get perturbed, distracted, frustrated and angry to things and people around us. Boss screaming for deadlines, junior’s meandering ways, expectations from home - all of it can take a toll on us. Pause. Turn and look around. Are things really that bad? Sighing and whimpering about it will not bring in any solutions. The distractions and frustrations are here to stay for a long time before being replaced by something new. So, why not start exploring and appreciating the small things which we have dismissed in the past. This will definitely ease up your mind and keep you happy. It is plain psychology. If you concentrate only on things which you are unhappy with, then you will only have a dismal purview. Instead try looking at the brighter provenances which will appease you.

I find my muse right here in office. Amongst everyone working here, I think one of the most ‘un-thanked’ people for their job is the housekeeping staff. On several instances while waiting for a cup of coffee they have given up their chance and stepped aside for me to fill first. I find it courteous. To people who think it is not a big deal, I must remind you that it is not their duty to let us go first. Also, how many times do you give others a chance before yourself? It is their humbleness speaking. Similarly, asking them to do personal chores for you is simply unacceptable. An office boy or the housekeeping staffs are strictly for office work. So be it paying of bills or heating your food, the very thought of asking them is disgusting. Appreciate their efforts in keeping the office running and always be polite with them as you would be with your peers.
No matter how people behave with the one who cries buckets everyday about everything, be polite to him/her. Make an effort to talk to the queer guy who is mostly alone. Make small differences in people’s life. Not only will they feel warm towards you but most importantly, you will feel good too. Therefore, do it for yourself and not out of pity. The source of happiness lies within you. It is up to you to see the dark or brighter side of life. Make the wise decision of choosing the positive things and you will be surprised to see how your daily frustrations melt away slowly and fill you with much satiation.
