Case Study on THE WEEKEND JOB

On Friday afternoon a co-worker visits your office and requests you a favour. She wants you to review a proposal she will give to her boss on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. you agree to study the proposal sometimes over the weekend and give her feedback on Monday before her meeting. You put the photocopy of the proposal in your briefcase and take it home. Over the weekend you get busy and forget to review the proposal. In fact, you are so busy that you do not even open your briefcase. On Monday morning you make a call on a customer before reporting to the office. While sitting in the customer’s office, you open your briefcase and see the report. it is too late to study the report and give feedback to your co-worker.

Questions:
Which of the following actions would you take?

a)      Try to forget the incident and avoid feeling guilty. After all, you did not intentionally avoid your obligation.
b)      Call the person’s boss and explain the circumstance. Confess that you simply forgot to read the report.
c)      Meet your co-worker as soon as possible and offer a sincere apology for failing to read the report and provide the feedback.
