Maruti plans to set up seventh plant

The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is con sidering setting up a new plant, over and above the two new units coming up in Manesar, as it aims to sell up to 3 million units every year by 201516.

According to officials aware of the development, the firm has already start ed internal discussions to set up its sev enth plant.

At present Maruti Suzuki is setting up two new units inside its Manesar facility at an investment of `3,625 crore. While the existing plant in Manesar can pro duce 350,000 units annually, its three units in Gurgaon have a combined annu al capacity of 850,000 units.

The officials said the new plant could be either at Manesar or elsewhere depending on the infrastructure situa tion at the Manesar facility.

GOvt rejects GMR’s SEZ request

The government has reject ed the request of GMR Hyderabad Avia tion SEZ Ltd to change the sector of Hyderabad SEZ from `aviation' to `multi product airport based SEZ', saying the special enclave is not a part of the air port.

The decision was taken by an inter ministerial board of approval, headed by commerce secretary Rahul Khullar late last month, an official said.

“The SEZ is not part of the airport and a multi product SEZ is required to have a minimum land area of 1,000 hectares.
So the board rejected the proposal,“ the official said. A multiproduct special eco nomic zone (SEZ) encompasses all prod ucts and services.

Dabur enters hand sanitizer market

Fast moving consumer goods company Dabur India Ltd on Sunday said it is entering into the hand sanitizer market under its `Fem Care' brand.

The company said it is looking at a double digit market share in the esti mated `20 crore hand sanitizer market within the next three years .

“We are doing test marketing of our hand sanitizer in metros such as Delhi and Mumbai. In the next threefour months we want to take it across the country,“ Dabur India body care (catego ry head) Gunjan Pandey said.
