Compression
To reduce in size. The amount of storage space required to store data can be reduced if the data is compressed.
Connectionless Protocol
A protocol where there is no handshaking between the sender and receiver. In a connectionless protocol neither the delivery of messages nor the correct sequencing of messages is guaranteed. UDP is an example of a connectionless protocol.
Copyright
The exclusive right to publish, perform, film or record some work such as a book, article, drawing, software or film. Copyright law also covers the right to use extracts of works. In the UK copyright normally extends to 70 years after the death of the last remaining author dies, or 50 years in the case of sound recordings, but other countries may vary this. Works that are no longer covered by copyright are said to be in the public domain.
